Hello from mushimone.dev
This is the first note on the site. It doubles as a test of the image
pipeline: the header image lives in src/assets/ and Astro optimizes it
at build time — resized, converted to WebP/AVIF, lazy-loaded, and served
with responsive srcset variants.
Why Astro
- Static by default — pages are plain HTML, fast and cheap to host
- Zero JS unless you ask — good for a notes/blog site
astro:assets— images are a first-class citizen, not an afterthought- Markdown content collections keep notes as simple
.mdfiles
How images work
Drop a photo into src/assets/, reference it in frontmatter or import it
in a component, and the build does the rest:
---
heroImage: '../../assets/some-photo.jpg'
---
The 1200×800 source above becomes several smaller formats at build time, so visitors on phones don’t download the original.
